Night

I missed the night.
It's been a long time since I've lived the nocturnal lifestyle, and I think I'm falling back into it again.
There's something magical in the evening, especially the silence of  those late hours when all other life has drifted into slumber. The intimacy of night is something I had forgotten; the glare of the sun had drained it out of me, but now I feel more awake than I have in months. I feel invigorated and ready to explore and create.

Smoke rises to the roof
To give a little tease
Ashes fall from my lips
And dust the lettered keys

Again, thank you.

The Waiting Game

Hello again.
Waiting for a reply when you send in submissions is hard, isn't it?
I have so much to do today, and yet I can't seem to force myself into pulling away from the computer.
I'm trying to make myself write something however small, every day. So here is today's attempt:

The yoke is heavy on its own
How can I carry the burden?
My cart is full of worries,
And my heart's refused to pull them.

Again, thank you for reading. I hope to add some cosmetic changes as things progress, so don't get to comfortable with the generic layout.

Salutations!

Welcome to Feathers in Flame.

I am known as Brigit Nikodym, and I hope that this blog can be a way to connect myself with the readers and writers out there. I've finally decided to try to get my work into the world, and I hope to update regularly with news of my exploits and little windows into my life.
I'll also include little bits of my own work, and share those out there of others that I think deserve a look or two. I have high hopes for this blog, and I hope that I can gather at least a few regular readers in the future.
I'll leave on a something that I wrote a few mornings ago, when a group of crows was harassing a hawk right beyond my doorstep.

Black winged scavengers
Tear the noble hunter from the Sky
His moment is fleeting
A battle cry piecing the blue

Thank you for reading, I hope to see you next time.
